Iran's bicycle city to embrace more bike paths

Isfahan holds the title of Iran's bicycle city; a reputation that represents its many bike trials, bike-sharing systems, and a bike friendly urban management board that actively promotes cycling.

Iran (IMNA) - Isfahan's new cycle routes is expected to get the final approval of the Supreme Traffic Council of the province.

Currently, there are 105 kilometers of bicycle tracks in Isfahan, but they are not connected and there is also no perfect route for bike touring," Daryush amani said.

Saying that Isfahan's new cycle routes is expected to get the final approval, he added " in new cities, the infrastructures and design of sidewalks, crossings and special bike routes are made based on up to the minute information; however, in old cities it is very difficult to create special networked and interconnected routes."

"According to the new approach, we will create safe and clear special routes for cyclists in the city," Isfahan's deputy mayor for transportation and traffic emphasized.

"If the bicycle routes will be implemented, citizens can enjoy riding their bicycle and use this clean transportation option for inner-city trips. Separating streets and sidewalks from people biking will bring safety to the cyclist‌‌‌‌‌‌‌," he ended.
