Iran (IMNA) - Addressing the Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the letter reads as follows:

These days we are witnessing the outbreak of an unseen and dangerous enemy called Covid 19 which has threatened the lives of millions of people across the world, and brought up the tragic memories of plague, cholera and tuberculosis in the minds of distressed people exposed to the virus.

Coronavirus has disrupted the perceptual and inferential systems of societies and governments; so, the world is witnessing widespread human casualties in Asia, Europe and even the United States. Although all countries have assembled their full potential and capacities, they have become desperate to combat against the virus, facing widespread physical, financial, educational, cultural, social and psychological damage. Educational, cultural and business centers have been closed, and people are suffering the most serious harm to the mental, economic and cultural health.

We, a group of college student cultural activists urge the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to try its utmost taking a proper approach regarding the authoritarianism of the US government and end the sanctions on Iran in the following direction;

- lifting a host of sanctions on the international - shipped pharmaceuticals and medical equipment to Iran

- Abolition of all inhumane sanctions that have impeded Iranian’s access to medical equipment and services.

- Removing sanctions on export that have blocked earnings and hampered the attempts to overcome the economic hardship caused by the spread of the Corona virus.
