WHO impressed by Iran’s efforts to contain coronavirus

World Health Organization Regional Emergency Director says he has been impressed to witness how Iran is countering the hit from the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran (IMNA) -Richard Brennan, Director for WHO's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, said on Sunday that he was specifically satisfied to witness Iran’s all-out efforts in combating the novel coronavirus in Qom where the virus outbreak first emerged in.

Some Western media made up claims that Iran is failing to manage and counter the virus due to the sanctions.

Iran has been taking advantage of all its resources to contain the novel coronavirus epidemic despite the fact that US cruel sanctions have hindered the government’s access to certain medical supplies and equipment.

“We’ve witnessed good efforts at educating the population about the disease and its prevention strategies” said World Health Organization Regional Emergency Director who has been in charge of monitoring Iran’s efforts to fight against the virus.

194 patients have died in Iran so far while 2,134 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the infection.
