Iran (IMNA) -" The UN Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. Sustainable development is the vision for the future and human rights that aims to make society useful for all and the future generations," Ghodratollah Norouzi said.
"Isfahan urban management board considers achieving sustainable development at the core of urban planning, " he continued.
"If today, the first priority of the municipality is the subway construction, it is due to the fact that Isfahan's metro has a great impact on reducing pollution and providing welfare to citizens. If a huge budget to create a city protection ring has been approved, it is because the development of infrastructure reduces social damages and makes it easier for passengers to reach their destination; it makes the life easier for our citizens," the mayor stressed.
Emphasizing that the expansion of facilities in different areas reduces traffic congestion and emission in the city, Norouzi noted, "such measures mean sustainable development, looking to the future and resolving problems that will make citizens comfortable."
Saying that resilience is not only about infrastructure and should be taken into account in all directions, the mayor of Isfahan pointed out, "resilient city must prevent and resist some environmental and social matters ( natural disasters, changes in climatic conditions, physical, social, economic degradation phenomena) in urban areas."
"We cannot implement the project of Isfahan 2020, which aim is flourishing the tourism industry, without the inter cooperation among organizations. We must achieve our development goals with a sense of responsibility and hope of the youth and seek to realize the common interest of the citizens," the mayor of Isfahan ended.
