Iran's pink lagoon

The Lipar lagoon which is also known as the Pink Chabahar Lake is one of the best and most beautiful hidden and amazing attractions in Iran's southern most spot of the east, Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran.

Iran (IMNA) – There are many lakes and lagoons around the world, but the colored ones are very scare and specific. The Lipar lagoon is one of them which is situated on a rocky valley overlooking the mountain. It is along the coastal path of Chabahar to Gwadar Bay on the coast of the Gulf of Oman on the maritime border of Pakistan and Iran.

One of the unique characteristics of this lagoon which has made it famous worldwide is that it looks pink or reddish due to the existence of rich colored planktons in the lagoon.

The weather presents very special conditions for different types of habitants, especially migrant birds. You can see different types of birds like flamingos, peacocks, eagles, grebes, coots and various herons in this lagoon. Therefore, it is a suitable destination for bird watching.

In addition, the growth of plants like oak, nettle, and shrubs adds to the beauty of this area. There is a plain next to this lagoon, called "Dashtar". In Sistani dialect, Dashtar means "bride", the reason of such naming is due to its unique greenery landscape and spectacular natural wonders that attracts everybody's eyes.

You can visit this area every time in a year, but the best time to go there is winter and early spring because of the humid weather of this area.
