Ancient relics discovered in northern Iran

Three fragments of ancient colorful pots depicting images of birds, flowers and inscriptions from the early Islamic era have been discovered in northern Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - The archaeological finds play a significant role in identifying cultural sequences during various Islamic eras.

The managing director of the archaeology department of Behshahr County in Mazandaran province said relics including pottery, earthenware, pieces of glass, iron and bronze objects, spindle and stone blade have been discovered in the site.

In winter 2018, the cultural-heritage site have been damaged due to the earth moving processes in this region. However, after receiving public reports that the owners are destroying the cultural monuments, the operations were immediately stopped by the Provincial cultural heritage organization.

Considerable artworks have been discovered from the early Islamic eras as well as the Ilkhanid period in this cultural site.
