Iran fallen behind Russia,Turkey in attracting Chinese tourists

Turkey and Russia are focusing seriously on Chinese tourists, but we have downplayed the importance of them and demoted our services to the level of Chinese restaurants and Chinese-speaking guides," he said.

Iran (IMNA) - Vali Teymouri, deputy head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization said, "The attempts to attract Chinese tourists remains ineffective despite all efforts to imply The Visa Waiver Program (VWP)" for Chinese tourists; we still face budget deficits in this regard."

Referring to the funding constraints in tourism fields, Mohammad Ibrahim Larijani, Director General of the Marketing and Advertising Office of the Cultural Heritage, Handcraft and Tourism Organization said, "Currency credibility is one of the important matters that can affect our tourism strategies in China; tackling and providing such credibility is under the responsibility of the government and the Planning and Budget Organization."

He continued, "for example, in terms of advertising, our rival, Turkey, holds more than 50 cultural events in China annually. Each year, 20 tours from China to Turkey is arranged to have Chinese familiarized with Turkey.  We are not even able to handle one of these actions. "

In terms of services, Russia is a good example; the country has designed and installed Chinese signs throughout the airports, museums, parks and hospitals and even the language of the apps and labels on goods are Chinese. Certainly, not only the Turkish or Russian Ministry of Tourism, but also a national commitment and a collective action is involved."

China is one of the top three target markets for tourism in Iran; visa-waver plan have been implemented unilaterally for Chinese since about a month ago.
