Isfahan seeks more practical relations with sister cities

The head of the Economic, Legal and Tourism Commissions of the Isfahan's Islamic City Council, Nasir Mellat, announced the development of relations with Isfahan's sister cities in a real sense.

Iran (IMNA) - "Unfortunately, despite having ties with 13 cities, there have neither been a proper definition of sisterhood relations nor appropriate actions. We must take advantage of all tools available for the city's economic growth; sisterhood relations are a special tool to accomplish this goal, so we have to reconsider the way how we look at the relations."

"In this regard, we must strive to gain the right conceptions about the capacity of our sister cities," he said. "One of the cities that has a tremendous potential and can contribute to develop the relations is St. Petersburg, the Russia's second largest city." He added.

The head of the Economic, Legal and Tourism Commissions of the Isfahan's Islamic City Council added, "St. Petersburg is a vibrant city with a population of five million people that welcomes about 2.5 million tourists annually; in fact, more than one and a half times of its population, it hosts tourists."

Pointing out that some tourists coming to St. Petersburg are interested in visiting the monuments, he said, "tourism potentials in Isfahan is the same as St. Petersburg's; so, we should introduce Isfahan's capacities to tourists arriving at this beautiful Russian city to take advantage of the sisterhood relations."
