Isfahan Music Museum

Museum and music are two important cultural elements in human life in the modern age, one of them is inherited from the past, and the other one has been made by modern humans using their intrinsic innovative thinking; the combination of them in "Isfahan Music Museum" catch the eye of anyone visiting the site.

Iran (IMNA) – Music is found in every known culture, past and present, varying widely between times and places. It is the universal language of the world and a universal feature of the human experience.

Isfahan Music Museum, as the first private tourism museum of the country, was founded by Mehrdad Jeihooni and Shahriar Shokrani in 2015. It is located in the eye-catching neighborhood of Jolfa, next to the Vank cathedral of Isfahan.

The museum has gained fame among other museums in a short time as it is a treasure of 300 samples of Iranian musical instruments that some of them are unique in the world.

The site consists of five parts; "the halls of national and local musical instruments", "saray-e Sarahangan", "music hall", and "a workshop for making musical instruments".

There are different kinds of musical instruments in Isfahan Music Museum, such as; Kanun, Tar, Sitar, Kamancheh, Santur, Qeichak, Rabat, Barbat, and Oud.  They come in all shapes and sizes and produce an enormous variety of different sounds. You can learn how to make the instruments, get acquainted with their background and listen to their sounds as well.

Most of the instruments have been donated to this museum by songwriters and musical players in order to support the Iranian classic music. This valuable complex has received the title of the best private museum in 2016, from the Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization. 

Isfahan Music Museum enriches Persian traditional music by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every instrument.

The music museum is open daily to the public in special hours and offers unique experiences for visitors.
