This traditional ancient festival is a memory of old tales and epics and considered as a celebration of rebirth and rejuvenation; spring has arrived and in harmony with nature renewed hope anticipates new achievements.

Regarding precise history of Nowruz festival, there are different opinions. Some historians believe that natural changes in spring gave rise to the festivities. Some regard it as a national festival while others a religious ritual. Anyway, Nowruz has been a celebration of early spring, when the sun begins to regain strength, sheds its light on the earth and all creatures and overcomes winter’s cold and darkness.

It’s time for renewal of growth and vigour in nature. According to Zoroastrianism, return of spring would have represented an annual victory for the Spirit of the sun and it is symbol of the unique new day; when more glorious victory to come.
