Reducing foreign trips not increase domestic travels

"The reduction of foreign trips has not changed the situation of people's interest to domestic travels. Domestic and foreign travels have decreased significantly," the head of the board of directors of Iran's travel agencies association said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – Saying that according to the sales volume of tours and plane tickets in travel agencies, foreign trips have decreased by about 50 to 60 percent, Hormatollah Rafiee said, "Inconstancy of exchange rate has influenced the travel planning of people.

Each travel package ,from the time of planning to the ticket destination, in markets takes at least two months, but the fact is that the currency rate will fluctuate during this interval  and therefore stable rate cannot be determined. When the exchange rate goes down, the price of services is expected to decrease, but it won't happen. Some time ago, even though U.S dollar dropped to 10,000 tomans, the price of airline tickets remained unchanged."

Pointing to the reduction of domestic trips, he said, "When the cost of travelling abroad became expensive and few, some people thought that the number of domestic travels will be increased, but so far, we haven’t take any distinctive step in the country to attract Iranian travelers who used to travel abroad."

Referring to the selling airline tickets and domestic tours, he noted, "expensiveness has reduced the number of domestic tours, however, this amount was not insomuch as the foreign trips."
