Iran and Iraq to expand cooperation in energy sector

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help Iraq in reconstruction, especially in the infrastructure field," the Minister of Energy said since he arrived in Iraq.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "I have traveled to this country on the official invitation of Iraq's Minister of Electricity, with the purpose of developing multilateral relations, especially in the field of energy," he said.

"We will investigate all the ways of developing the relationships with Iraqi officials," Ardakanian added. Pointing to the potential capabilities of Iranian companies regarding infrastructure, he emphasized on Iran's readiness to expand ties with Iran in electricity.

"Extending the relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is very important for the interests of both countries in all fields, particularly the energy sector," Iraqi Minister of Electricity noted.

"According to the needs of the country in electricity and gas and by concerning the requirements of economic development and population growth, we are interested in cooperating with all countries, especially Iran. Collaboration with Iran is very important as this country is a very great source to meet our needs in energy sectors," Al-Khatib said.

The Minister of Energy is going to meet and discuss with the Minister of urban development and housing, Prime Minister, and President of Iraq. A joint meeting of two Iranian delegations and also signing a cooperation agreement between the Electricity Ministry of Iran and Energy Ministry of Iraq are further plans of the Minister of Energy during this official trip.
