202 single student schools in Iran

"Livelihood and economic problems are the reasons for 60% of students' dropouts from elementary schools, and 30% of this issue is related to marginalization and divorce," the head of the Literacy Movement Organization said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "What made us to gather together is the love to fulfill the Supreme Leader's order, and also following his recommendations to realize the literacy order," Ali Bgaherzadeh said.

"Despite the ups and downs, we managed to be among the successful countries of the world. In 1976, we were witnesses of 36% literacy in age group over 15 years, that its average in the world was 70%, but now according to the latest reports, the static in Iran is 4% higher than the average of the world," he noted.

"The Literacy Movement Organization has won 5 international awards; training illiterate parents is one of the registered plans in UNESCO," he continued. "We are thinking about combining literacy with other life skills seriously in order to strengthen other skills beside reading and writing," he added.

Pointing to the government support, he said, "The government has provided all the resources to meet the organization's needs, we should emphasize on developing the elementary education as well."

Referring to 202 single student schools in the country, he added, "We should not ignore people's elementary education."
