1100 tons of dried fruit, nuts exported from Isfahan

Saying that the amount of dried fruit and nuts exports from Isfahan have been 1922 tons in last year, Isfahan's Business Development Manager of Agriculture Jihad organization noted, "dried fruit and nuts export in last seven months was 1100 tons that is almost equal to its total export in 2017".

Isfahan (IMNA)- The amount of dried fruit and nuts exported from this province was equal to its total export in 2017, and currency fluctuation was the only reason for increasing in the export, Farhad Haji Moradi said.

Noting that dried fruit export includes almonds, pistachio, pistachio slice, dried fruit, date, and fresh and dried figs, he added, "export destinations countries that import dried fruit from Isfahan province are Sweden, Germany, Pakistan, Emirates, India, Malaysia, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Australia, Belgium and New Zealand".

Pointing to the issues resulted from climate changes, he also added, " late last year, the climate conditions in Isfahan province were in such a way that fertilization of pistachio trees was not possible; the untimely heat and cold resulted in significantly decreasing of pistachio crops in this province.

Saying that throughout the entire country, only pistachio trees in Semnan fructified this year and this amount of pistachio was not enough even for domestic consumption, Isfahan's Business Development Manager of Agriculture Jihad added," dried fruit imports to Iran has been prohibited, and if there is any import, it is assumed to be contraband; so, importation cannot be offered as a solution for regulating dried fruit market".

"Another reason for increasing the price is economic fluctuations that pistachio is no exception in this regard", he continued.
