Disabled to commute cheaper than ever

Saying that disabled people are usually forced to use private taxis, a member of Isfahan disability community said, "If appropriate urban public transportation are provided, disabled people won't need to pay for the private taxis."

Isfahan (IMNA) – "Physical barriers in the urban space are among the main factors of disabled and veterans' isolation. Unfortunately, to get in to banks and cinemas, disabled people are forced to enter from exit doors. Also, public swimming pools have not been appropriated for the disabled," Mohammad Pourkhalili said.

Pointing out that we should reduce the cost of disabled people's traffic in the city, he added, "Escalators cannot help the disabled in places like metro stations and only elevators can move them efficiently."

"Some departments like Civil and Personal Status Registration office don’t have elevators, and disabled people cannot use the stairs," he noted.

Referring to the appropriation of pavements for disabled people, he added, "Some problems related to appropriating the pavements have been solved, but the disabled people's needs in these places have not been fully met yet."

"The Bus Company has taken out good measures regarding appropriating and facilitating disabled people's access to urban services," he continued.
