Developing solar power plants on the agenda

"Currently, there are 22 power plants in the municipal buildings that each of them generating 10, 5, and 2.5 kilowatts," the head of optimization, maintenance, and repairing of the urban facilities department of Isfahan municipality said.

Isfahan (IMNA) - "Among other major metropolises in Iran, Isfahan is among the pioneers in using renewable energy, in such a way that currently, about 300 kilowatts solar energy is generated throughout the city," Amir Hossein Malekpoor said.

Saying that one "10 K.W power plant" is active near the main municipal building in Isfahan, he added, "There is a zero-energy building in district 8 of the municipality, which means that the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis is roughly equal to the amount of renewable energy created on the site, and now the urban services building of district 8 is enjoying this facility."

"A 100 KW power plant has been constructed next to the meeting hall that produces electricity. Of course, according to the contract which has been concluded between Isfahan municipality and Electricity Distribution Company, the electricity generated by this power plant is sold to the electric company," he continued. "Also,250 solar water heaters were installed on the roof of the  toilets throughout the parks in Isfahan," he noted.
