Preserving historical monuments requires creative approaches

"Preserving the cultural heritage and historical monuments requires the expertise- based collaborative planning and the creative and technological approaches," the head of the Department of Urban Studies and Planning of the Municipality of Isfahan said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "The historical textures in the old areas of the city are considered as the inseparable parts of Isfahan and citizens' identity; environmental values of the cultural heritage and historical monuments belong to all citizens, so preserving and maintaining the identity of the urban appearance is not only a principle, but also a duty," Faryad Parhiz said.

"In European cities, preserving the heritage and reviving the urban life are carried out by taking advantage of the tourism industry, they put five strategies into practice to revive the urban life; the first one is business tourism through which the city will be strengthened as a destination for holding various conferences and exhibitions," he emphasized.

"The second strategy is based on the events that attract different types of tourists at different times of the year," he added. Saying that the third strategy emphasizes on the physical appearance of the tourist attractions, Parhiz said, "The fourth strategy is based on the retail that develops the shopping-based tourism industry. The last one is the strategy that strengthens the general culture of the city."

"It is necessary to extract and indigenize the criteria and indicators of these strategies to preserve the cultural heritage and historical monuments," he said.
