Index Cards Screenwriting Workshop held in filmfest

A children scriptwriting workshop was held in Iran’s 31st InternationalFilm Festival for Children and Youth, taught by a veteran German screenwriter.

Isfahan (IMNA) - As reported by the news headquarters at the festival, Anna de Paoli collaborated in holding a team work-themed workshop, teaching a method to write scripts for children, known as ‘the Index Cards Screenwriting Workshop’ in Isfahan.

Starting the session, de Paoli handed in some cards to the participants, later asking them to write down queries that may cross their minds on first encounters with other people. She then collected the cards, and gave them to the participants in a random manner, so that they may answer questions of anonymous origin.
The posed questions had an interesting variety as the following:

How old are you? What is your biggest dream in life? What is the worst memory in your mind? Have you ever fallen in love? What is the thing that you enjoy most? When did you find out your interest in art? What is your favorite movie? What criteria do you have in mind for your desired wife? How familiar are you with children’s literature? Have you ever watched a movie about disabled kids? Are you happy with your life? When was the last time you watched a film, accompanied by a child? What is the end of the world?

According to de Paoli, the given questions paved the way for participants to get to know each other. She then divided them into three-member groups, giving each six cards of three different colors. De Paoli initially asked them to write down the names of their two favorite characters on two white cards. Afterwards, the participants were asked to write the name of two locations on two blue cards. Subsequently, they were requested to write down the names of two actions on two red cards.

Afterwards, all the cards were collected and arranged on the table. She then asked each of the participants to choose three cards. The workshop ended by individuals reading their final scenarios out loud, and then, each one posed questions of their own. In the next stage, de Paoli divided the participants into three to four member groups, requesting each one to pick out three cards as their final choices. The groups should subsequently write a story in due time.

Presided by Alireza Rezadad, Iran’s 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth opened on August 30 in the historic city of Isfahan, slated to be wrapped up on September 5.
