Kaveh Ahangar Came Back Home

Last night (Sunday), the statue of Kaveh Ahangar, which was removed from Azadi Square due to the development of the subway, was re-installed at the center of Azadi square.

Isfahan (IMNA)- The statue of Kaveh Ahangar was designed and created by Iranian artist sculptor, Iraj Mohammadi, in 2002 and placed at the center of Isfahan Azadi square. After consultations, by considering the history of playing Chogan in Naghsh-e-Jahan Square and the fact that that Kaveh Ahangar rose from Sepahan and moved toward Zahak, Iraj Mohammadi chose to make Kave Ahangar Statue for Isfahan.

The statue has a height of about 6 and half meters and 5 tons weight and is made of Bronze in two pieces. The construction of the statue began in 1979 and lasted two years to be completed. Finally, in the beginning of 2002, it was installed instead of the statue of Shah Abbas Safavi in the Azadi Square of Isfahan. By starting the subway construction operations, this statue was taken from the Azadi Square for more than 10 years.

It is worth mentioning that according to researchers, the name of "Kaveh" and the flag of " Kavian" are related to the old names of Isfahan " Gabeh" and "Gabian"; besides, it has been talked about the relations between Kaveh and his Kavian flag with Isfahan and Isfahan people in Persian literature and Kaveh has been named with the name of Ahan
