Imam Khamenei Int’l Conference Center Meets World Standards

Imam Khamenei Int’l Conference Center is a megaproject in the city of Isfahan which is planned to be constructed in an area of 70 hectares according to the latest construction standards in the world.

According to IMNA, the operational stage of the construction has started since 2010 with a promises budget of 1000 billion Iranian rials (25 million US dollars) from the government’s side.

Six years after the operational stage of the construction has started, the government has only granted 200 billion Iranian rials (5 million US dollars) to the project. That is the main reason why the construction did not go according to the initial timetable as planned.

It will be costlier if the project is paused and resumed again. The municipality tried to compensate the financial gap in the construction to keep the project alive.

Government Paid Only $25 million

Fathollah Moein, the head of Isfahan City Council said: “the project was scheduled to be finalized and inaugurated in a year from the start of the plan to be used during the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) meetings. The government committed to pay 1000 billion Iranian rials (25 million US dollars) to project and Isfahan Municipality committed to pay 400 billion Iranian rials (10 million US dollars). However, the government has fulfilled only 200 billion Iranian rials (5 million US dollars) of its commitments.”

Moein added: “Isfahan Municipality has allocated an annual budget of 500 million Iranian rials (12,500 US dollars) for the project to keep it moving and alive. The current government has paid a fraction of the promised budget and we are corresponding with the government to complete the payments.

Int’l Conference Center Constructed According to Latest Standards

Iraj Mozaffar, Deputy of Isfahan Mayor at Urban Civil Affairs, noted: “the center is built in an area of 70 hectares in two sections. Part one of the project is the conference section and part two is the business center hotels and accommodations.

He added: “the conference halls and facilities at the Imam Khamenei Int’l Conference Center are constructed using municipality resources. The business centers and hotels are constructed using the resources of the private sector.

Deputy of Isfahan Mayor at Urban Civil Affairs said: “the project has a 67 percent progress. Currently, the main hall and three side halls, exhibition environment, accommodation centers, a powerhouse and power-generating facilities are under construction.
