Let’s Control Isfahan Children Film Festival Extravagant Budget

Amrohham Ahmadjou, Isfahan’s prominent filmmaker said: “officials at the city of Isfahan do not pay much attention to cinema and arts activists. They only hold unfruitful and purposeless meetings where a speaker gives attendees some advice and promises to pursue their demands. By the time the meetings are finished they do not fulfill any of their promises.”

Ahmadjou continued: “there are significantly talented young artists in Isfahan who have a lot to offer at international cinema venues.”

He criticized the structure of the International Children Film Festival and said: “it was mainly a venue for filmmakers and artists from Tehran and did not provide any opportunities for artists and filmmakers from Isfahan, although it was hosted in Isfahan.”

He added: “such extravagant budget could be spent on training and education. There are many filmmakers who can make films with small budgets but do not have access to any resources.”

Isfahan Been Cradle of Culture and Arts for Centuries

Fereydoun Khosravi, a filmmaker from Isfahan, said: “we do not have many demands from the municipality of Isfahan. We only need the mayor’s financial and moral help. Younger filmmakers hear a lot of promises from officials, but none of the promises are fulfilled.”

He added: “unfortunately Isfahan is becoming an industrial city and is becoming famous for is steel company. Although, it has always been the cradle of culture and art.

Documentary Makers, Lone Artists

Shohreh Sajadieh, a documentary maker and a lecturer of cinema at Sepehr University, spoke about the significance of documentary making and said: “documentary makers are lone artists who do not receive any supports from any ends.”

She added: “Since documentaries do not have much financial profits, investors do not tend to extend their financial support to documentary makers. They mostly are forced to work with private producers or with their own saving.”

She concluded: “documentary makers cannot survive without the direct support of the state.”

Take Children Film Festival from Tehran!

Akbar Khamin, prominent cinema producer, said: “Zayandeh-Roud River and a couple of historical bridges in Isfahan were what make me stay in Isfahan and not to move to Tehran. I am in love with the city of Isfahan and am glad to see many young talented artists in this city.”

He added: “Isfahan Children Film Festival never could value artists from Isfahan as much as they are worth. Such a festival must provide opportunities for younger talents but the Children Film Festival failed to do so.”

Ghodratollah Norouzi, Mayor of Isfahan, elaborated the municipalities management plans in arts and culture sector. He said he was committed to pursue the artists and filmmakers’ demands.
