Conference on PBM in Cardiac Surgery held in Isfahan

Isfahan hosted an important medical conference on Friday, Nov 12, titled ‘Patient Blood Management (PBM) in Cardiac Surgery’.

According to IMNA, the conference was held in the presence of the chancellor of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and managing director of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization. The conference was also attended by a group of cardiovascular surgeons and anesthesiologist and hematologists at Zeytoon Hall of the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.  

During the conference, the lecturers delivered address about the main related topics including the importance of patient’s blood and its future in Iran, preparation process of blood products, blood predictive factors in cardiac surgery patients, strict blood transfusion methods against free methods, side effects of blood products injections, the injection location of synthetic products, new guidelines regarding blood injection in cardiac surgery, various types of autologous blood transfusion, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), Rotational Thromboelastometry (ROTEM) , point of care tests and applying cell saver in bleeding treatment.
