Cannes authorities seek for Iranian banned films

The former head of Iran's IRIB Seyyed Ezzatollah Zarghami spoke about the persistence of Cannes authorities in awarding the Iranian film ‘Taste of Cherry’ directed by Abbas Kiarostami.

Zarghami in an interview said that in Fajr Film Festival, the Cannes authorities were seeking for banned films picturing poverty and misery in Iran. This happened while Iran produced many outstanding films in terms of narration and content.

Foreign film festivals has their own policies and we need to be well aware of the underlying purpose.
