Bicycles to count for 10% of inner city transportation

Deputy of traffic & transportation of Isfahan municipality: the license to extend Isfahan bike lanes to 100 kms is gained now and the inner city commutes on bikes are going to count for 10% of transportations.

Alireza Salavati said to IMNA reporter that bike riding should be internalized as the related infrastructures are being built.

Special bike lanes have for a year being under construction, the deputy announced and stated: 60 kms bike lanes are currently available for citizens, and another 100 kms is organized to join the previous lanes and raise the safety. He mentioned that the city center is high on the agenda in this regard.  

Salavati then named Bagh Goldasteh and Pasdaran streets towards Imam Hossein Sq. as the areas equipped with the two-way bike lanes.  

"Citizens have fallen distant from bicycles over past years, compared to 3 decades ago", "They are recently at 3% of bicycle usage, the number has raised to 4% through effective efforts of Isfahan municipality", he informed the public.

He hopefully stated: we are seeking for a 10% bicycle usage by 2021.

Isfahan will enjoy a clear environment only if we step toward clean transportation, he closed his remarks.
