Iran came ninth at the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship 2017 on Wednesday.

The Iranian team defeated Australia 3-2 (19–25, 25–18, 20–25, 25–22, 15–10) and finished in ninth place.

“I came to coach Iran just two months ago, and I changed four or five players in favor of the young ones,” said Iran coach Mirmostafa Shojaei. “I think our team will be good next month in Thailand for the World Championship Asian Qualifier Pool B.”

Japan will play Thailand in the final match while South Korea face China in the bronze medal match.

The 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship is being held from 9 to 17 August 2017 in the Philippines.

The matches are being held in two cities, namely Binan and Manila.
