Babak Haghighi addressed IMNA reporter: Isteqlal Square was for a period of 40 years placed in the central Isfahan as a very simple square, being a public transit area for trucks. But the present municipality of Isfahan succeeded to overcome all the existing problems and fulfil the goal through twofold efforts.
Because of being located near Isfahan University of Technology, the square used to bear heavy traffic congestion which caused an abundant of road accidents, the project manager reminded and announced: today, however, the current project has well removed the passerby's uncertainty problems, lessened heavy vehicles traffic, and reduced the air pollution to a great extent.
He then confirmed: the underpass bridges by the two sides of the square, metro bridge, and the entrance square to the city have all been established under the shadow of Isteqlal megaproject.
Elsewhere in his speech, the authority reminded that the project has also achieved the "Goledn Adobe" award in a competition of 400 participants. "The award of Golden Adobe mainly goes to the projects which despite reaching final stages at highest quality at the shortest possible time while being enormous, have best ever impacts on the environment, traffic, culture, and society", he explained.
He made the closing sentences of his speech as follows: the Isteqlal interchange was implemented at the earliest time possible through the execution stages of which, the companies of water, electricity, gas, and telecommunications did cooperate to transport huge urban facilities.
