IMNA quotes mayor of Isfahan Mehdi Jamalinejad at the opening ceremony of ICS 2017: scientific meetings and urban conferences have over the recent years been raising different approaches concerning city development strategies.
The mayor added that some new terminologies are presented each time at such conferences, so urban managers will act within those frameworks.
He then raised an example: green cities, creative cities, and knowledge-based cities have recently been introduced, all of which are summed up in Knowledge Cities. That is the reason why all 21st century cities are known as knowledge cities in which knowledge approaches are adopted.
Referring to Islam, Jamalinejad reminded that gaining knowledge in Islam is so emphasized on, in a way that an Islamic saying reads: Seek knowledge even if you have to go as far as China.
He admitted that atmosphere of knowledge dominates Isfahan metropolis, saying: science and technology form the basis of Isfahan activities.
“We need to remember that all urban proceedings and approaches must move towards transforming science into knowledge and wealth”, Mehdi Jamalinejad stressed.
Elsewhere in his speech, the mayor reminded the audience of his visit with Iran’s Supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and quoted him as: May God not let Iran feel shortage of Isfahan. The leader then named Isfahan as the city of science, religion, perseverance, innovation, art and culture, martyrdom, and elegance.
Jamalinejad confirmed: we have scheduled to change Isfahan to a knowledge-based, environmentally-friendly, child-friendly, and creative city in 2021.
Referring that Isfahan Governor announced “science & technology” as the leading base in developing Isfahan province, the mayor expressed hope that new strategies will be created regarding cities’ development so as to witness some more entrepreneurial cities.
Further in his speech, Jamalinejad featured a developed city as having creative citizens, artists, geniuses, entrepreneurs, cultural centers, handicrafts workshops, galleries, brainstorming centers, knowledge-dominated universities, science-technology diplomacy, creativity and innovation. He then hopefully titled Isfahan a city of enjoying a full atmosphere of knowledge.
He eventually expressed hope that the ongoing festival will not only impress the city’s progress and knowledge, but also well support the cities’ convergence, dynamism, and spreading collaborative activities among scientific and executive sections, so that all challenges and threats surrounding the metropolises will be partially removed.
He closed his presentation with grateful thanks to all managers of the province and the whole country to attend the First International Festival on New Urban Technologies (ICS).
