The 48th International Physics Olympiad 2017 (IPO) was held on July 16-24 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Over 650 top students from 86 countries participated in the event.
The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) is an annual international physics competition for secondary school students. The aim of this competition is to enhance the development of international contacts in the field of school education in physics.
The first IPhO was held in Warsaw (Poland) in 1967, and it was organized by Prof. Czeslaw Scilowski. Inspired by the success and the positive experience gained from the organization of the International Mathematics Olympiads that was already existed since 1959, physicists were stimulated to involve in physics education and interested in comparison of knowledge of the best students around the world.
Iranian physics team seized 2 gold and 3 silver medals in the 48th International Physics Olympiad 2017.
