IAIO Director, Brig. Gen. Abdolkarim Banitorfi, told Mehr News correspondent on the sidelines of Russia’s MAKS air show on Saturday that the objective for participation in the event was to introduce Iranian experts and researchers with state-of-the-art aviation achievements in the world; “this year, we have a new approach, which allows us to display our own achievements on an international level,” he added.
Various types of Iranian-manufactured aircraft, helicopters, drones and electronic devices have been put on display in Russia’s air show this year, he added.
Banitorfi noted plans for carrying out joint research and design projects with European companies, adding “we have now stopped being merely a consumer and are seeking to export our aviation technology to the world, beginning with this air show.”
About cooperation with Russia on joint production of helicopters, he said “the project on the joint design of helicopters have not reached the implementation phase yet but the grounds have been prepared and the contract is being finalized and ready for getting signed.”
He went on to add, “we are also in cooperation with Russian Helicopters for joint maintenance. The contract has been finalized and signed.”
The MAKS-2017, one of the world's largest aviation shows established 25 years ago, is underway in Zhukovsky, 40 kilometers (25 miles) south-east of Moscow from 18 July 18 to 23 July.
About 700 Russian and 180 foreign corporations and companies from 36 countries including Iran are participating in the air show.
Iran is taking part in the event with a delegation comprising academic figures, representatives from knowledge-based companies, and officials from Iranian Aviation Technology Development HQ.
