Persian Gulf island's airport inaugurated by 1st VP

First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri inaugurated the Persian Gulf Island of Hendorabi's airport during an official ceremony on Tuesay.

Hendorabi is an Iranian island located in the Persian Gulf, Hormuzgan Province, west of the Kish Island.

With its 1,485-meter long and 30-meter wide runway which has 7.5-meter shoulders on each side, Hendorabi airport can host various aircrafts including Fokker 50, Fokker 100, and ATR 72.

The first Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri arrived on the Kish Island heading a delegation on a two-day visit to the region to inaugurate several development projects.

The first test flight to Hendorabi airport was conducted successfully last February. The airport also benefits of two separate helipads.

Hendorabi Island's name is derived from the Persian word ‘Andar-abi’ meaning ‘inside the waters’. It's scenic nature put it at the top of the President Hassan Rouhani's government agenda to develop ecotourism projects on the island.

Official operation of the airport will make is possible now for the domestic and international tourists to visit the island.
