Isfahan in 2021, a waste-free city

Isfahan municipality held the meeting for the council of waste management with the attendance of Isfahan mayor. The allocated budget for the project was settled and ratified.

IMNA reports quoting from Communication Bureau of Isfahan Municipality: Isfahan mayor Mehdi Jamali Nejad in the meeting said that two years ago (Iranian year 1394), Isfahan municipality well planned the strategic waste management in a way that Isfahan would change into a waste-free city in 2021 (Iranian 1400).

Stating that preliminary feasibilities of the city of Isfahan was signed with a Danish company two years ago, Isfahan mayor pointed out: The Organization of Waste Management has invited some university lecturers to the professional committee of digester technology, and has investigated basic documents to study various successful digester factories around the world.

He then clarified that the proceedings which have been performed in the field of waste management include: Investigating Waste Management based on Sustainable Development, checking the current situation, updating the statistics, studying different companies’ track records in waste management, discussing various existing ways to manage urban organic waste, introducing and evaluating the top 21 active companies regarding the related subject, and finally offering some decision making criteria.

It was also mentioned in the conference that in order to reach the appropriate method of waste management in Isfahan, some researches were carried out about six years ago on the area of ways to carry, collect, reserve and process the urban waste. All the conclusions of the meeting were later published in a 6-volume book.    

The overall budget allocated to the project operation is the amount of 24 billion toman, 85% of which has been expended so far.
