World soccer stars defeated Iran’s in charity rendezvous

TEHRAN (Imna) - A stellar battalion of the world’s former soccer giants was to play its Iranian version in a confrontation whose proceeds are to go to MS sufferers.

The World Stars squad members arrived at the Imam Khomeini International Airport in the Iranian capital on Thursday and Friday.

Tehran’s Azadi Stadium was to host the clash later on Friday.

Among others, the world team comprises Captain Michel Salgado, Marcel Desailly, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, Fabio Cannavaro, Fernando Hierro, Fernando Couto, Vitor Baia, Bodo Illgner, Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Kluivert, Steve McManaman, Fernando Morientes, Marcel Desailly, Gaizka Mendieta, Edgar Davids, Jari Litmanen, Christian Karembeu, Boudewijn Zenden, and Santiago Solari.

Iranian soccer giants, who accompanied the Iranian national team during 1998 and 2006 World Cups, such as Ali Karimi,Ahmadreza Abedzade and others are expected to fight on the Iranian side.
At the end, world soccer stars won to play Iran’s team. The Iranians missed several chances for netting the ball, and three goals from world stars sealed a victory for them.
