Iran’s Army Chief: Restrictions on Strait of Hormuz Passage to Continue if Iranian Rights Are Not Respected

Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Amir Hatami has stated that restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz will remain in place if the inalienable rights of the Iranian nation are not respected.

Iran (IMNA) – Hatami made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the 11th National Itikaf Congress and the 8th International Scientific, Literary and Artistic Itikaf Festival, held late Thursday at the mosque of Imam Ali (AS) Officers’ Academy in Tehran. He emphasized that restrictions on passage through the strategic waterway would continue if the enemy failed to respect the rights of the Iranian nation.

The army chief identified four pillars of Iran’s power as its people, the Armed Forces, governance structures, and geopolitical position, stressing that these elements had caused the enemy’s calculations to fail completely.

Referring to the role of the Iranian people during the early days of the war imposed on the country by the United States and Israel, Hatami said the nation had entered the field voluntarily, relying on its own capabilities. He added that this point had also been emphasized by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Hatami highlighted the leading role of the Iranian people in thwarting the enemy’s miscalculations and plots during the war imposed on the country.

Describing the Armed Forces as the second pillar of Iran’s power, he said they had responded to the enemy with full force, launching volleys of missiles toward enemy positions in the early hours of the war.

He also emphasized that the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had continued their operations despite the martyrdom of numerous commanders and officials, noting that these losses had not disrupted the Armed Forces’ ongoing operational activities.

Hatami reiterated that restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz would continue if the enemy failed to respect the inalienable rights of the Iranian nation.
