Iran (IMNA) – Speaking on Wednesday on the occasion of World Maritime Day, Pezeshkian said the Strait of Hormuz is among the world’s most important maritime routes and has a significant position in regional and global security.
He noted that gaining a deeper understanding of the seas, developing new technologies, improving maritime safety, utilizing marine energy resources, and protecting marine ecosystems represent investments in Iran’s future and that of coming generations.
The president added that the government’s responsibility is to facilitate greater participation by the public and private sectors by removing barriers, streamlining procedures, coordinating relevant agencies, improving infrastructure, and creating a suitable environment for participation and investment.
Referring to the strategic position of the Strait of Hormuz in the security and economy of the region and the world, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of a responsible approach focused on preserving stability and safeguarding the interests of regional countries.
He also said Iran’s strong presence at sea has prevented the country’s vital maritime arteries from being brought to a standstill, further underscoring the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz.
Pezeshkian stressed that sustainable security in the Persian Gulf and its waterways depends on cooperation and responsibility among the countries of the region.
He used the occasion to congratulate all Iranian seafarers, maritime staff and personnel, navy commanders, and their families on World Maritime Day.
The president also commemorated the memory of maritime martyrs and seafarers who lost their lives while carrying out their duties and prayed for the glory and prosperity of Iran.
