Iran (IMNA) – At the beginning of his address, Pezeshkian held up pictures of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and schoolchildren who were killed in Minab in southern Iran during the US-Israeli aggression. He also said that the United States bombed Iranian children in Lamerd using cluster bombs.
Pezeshkian stressed that the United States and its supporters accuse Iran of terrorism while they themselves are committing what he described as the worst terrorist acts.
“Iran has not attacked or invaded any country for 200 years, but defends itself steadfastly,” he said.
According to the Iranian president, “Iran must be so powerful that no one can think of bombing its cities will go unanswered.”
He added that Iran “will not forgo its rights to peaceful use of nuclear technology.”
Pezeshkian said that the United States and its backers seek to close Iran’s waterways while using them as supply lines for their own “sinister goals.”
“Resistance cannot be defeated by bombs, acts of aggression,” he said.
He further asserted that “they imposed a war on Iran, but they learnt that Iranians are not afraid of war.”
“Nuclear weapon is in Israel, but IAEA inspectors are racing to come to Iran,” Pezeshkian said.
He stressed that “we must not build a world where military power is used for enforcing hegemony.”
The Iranian president concluded by saying that while Tehran is ready for negotiations, it will not accept the language of bullying.
He also noted that US President Donald Trump’s language of force during his UNGA address on Tuesday clearly showed that the US president still adheres to threats.
Pezeshkian, Iraqi PM discuss bilateral ties and regional developments in New York
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met and held talks on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, discussing bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of relations between Iran and Iraq, as well as progress on joint agreements and projects. They emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of understandings reached between Tehran and Baghdad.
Pointing to the vast potential in relations between the two nations, Pezeshkian and al-Zaidi stressed the importance of expediting joint agreements and projects, removing existing obstacles, and fully utilizing opportunities in the economic, trade, energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional developments, including the consequences of recent military aggressions by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and their impact on regional stability and security.
During the meeting, both officials emphasized the need to strengthen regional cooperation and make use of the capabilities of regional states to manage crises, de-escalate tensions, and establish indigenous security mechanisms.
They described the presence of foreign military forces and external interventions as factors that complicate the regional security environment and contribute to insecurity in the region.
The Iranian president and Iraqi prime minister also stressed the importance of continuing political and diplomatic consultations between Tehran and Baghdad, along with close coordination on regional and international developments.
Pezeshkian meets Bangladesh PM in New York
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met and held talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday.
Pezeshkian held the meeting as part of a series of bilateral talks with foreign officials during his first day in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly.
The Iranian president also met and held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Wednesday.
