The Zayandeh Rud River, flowing down from the Zagros Mountains through the city of Isfahan and a string of farming areas on its way before reaching Gavkhouni wetland, has been dried up for years. The river has backed to the western Isfahan after months and people gathered by the river to celebrate its coming back to the home.

Iran (IMNA) - The Zayandeh Rud has pushed through to the agrarian communities as farmers have not been able to irrigate their lands for years due to the river being dried up.

The river is considered as Iran's largest river in the central plateau; however, over the past two decades, the input rate of water to the Zayande-Rood dam has been the minimum amount and the river dried due to the decrease in precipitation frequency, poor watershed management plans of the upstream and transferring water to the neighboring provinces.
