Naqsh-e Jahan which literally means ‘patterns of the world’, is one the most impressive squares in the world.
Iran (IMNA) - Due to its ancient buildings and majestic atmosphere, visiting this magnificent square is definitely on every adventure lover’s bucket list. Naqsh-e Jahan was erected in 1602 A.D. at 512m long and 163m wide under the glorious reign of the Safavid ruler, Shah Abbas the Great. This live monument is hemmed on four sides by architectural gems and regarded as a showcase of the Safavid Empire Jewels—the elegant Imam mosque, the Sheikh Lotfollah mosque and wondrous Ali Qapu and Qeysarieh portal.
Naqsh-e Jahan square has been recently nominated and introduced as World Heritage asset in a research project conducted by the European Union (EU). According to the Horizon 2020, Naqshe-e Jahan square is an international hub for promoting entrepreneurship and investment from all over the world.
