Steel Wetland is one of the natural attractions in Guilan province, located 2 kilometers away from Astara County, near the village of Abbas Abad and along the road of Rasht to Astara.
Iran (IMNA) - This pristine nature, also known as the Moving Wetland, has amazed everyone and raised various questions about this naming. The reason for such naming is the presence of alder trees in the wetland whose roots are floating in the water; so they are constantly moving from side to side.
The wetland, also known as Steel Lake, is one of the country's freshwater and permanent wetlands that holds great importance to tourists and nature lovers. Iran's wetlands play important ecological roles including water purification, water storage, and act as a home to a wide range of plant and animal life like migratory birds.
Migratory birds such as shorebirds like red-billed chough use this lagoon to rest, feed and breed during their annual long journeys between wetlands.
