Iran (IMNA) - Aref made the proposal during a meeting with Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, highlighting the extensive cultural, civilizational, and linguistic commonalities between Iran and Tajikistan.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the favorable political relations between Tehran and Dushanbe by expanding cooperation in economic, trade, scientific, energy, tourism, and cultural fields.
Aref congratulated Tajikistan on its independence anniversary and expressed appreciation for the country’s supportive and aligned stance toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly during the two recent imposed wars and in regional and international bodies.
He said Tajikistan’s support during this period had been valuable to Iran, adding that both countries are pursuing a strategy of expanding bilateral relations at all levels.
According to Aref, there are no serious obstacles to deepening cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe, with bureaucracy being the main challenge. He emphasized that this obstacle should be overcome through increased bilateral interaction.
The Iranian vice president also pointed to the convening of the joint commission as a demonstration of the two countries’ determination to develop relations across political, economic, trade, scientific, technical, energy, and cultural fields.
