Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a meeting of deputy ministers at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Aref said Iran's enemies had deliberately targeted the country's industrial sector during the Ramadan war. Despite the attacks, he said reconstruction efforts were completed rapidly and with high quality.
Aref described recent conflicts as technology-driven wars in which the enemy employed its most advanced capabilities. He said young Iranian scientists prevented the adversary from achieving its objectives and that Iran's defensive capabilities continued to strengthen throughout the conflict.
Highlighting the country's industrial strategy, Aref said post-revolution policies have focused on transforming Iran's manufacturing sector from an assembly-based model into an indigenous, knowledge-based industry centered on research and development and stronger cooperation between universities and industry. He added that Iran's long-term development vision seeks regional leadership through industrial growth driven by emerging technologies.
The first vice president also underscored the importance of expanding economic cooperation with neighboring countries and regional organizations, including the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), BRICS, and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He said the "Iranophobia project has failed" and reiterated that the Islamic Republic's strategy is to strengthen regional and international partnerships.
Addressing the future of industry, Aref said that in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, industrial development must be based on advanced, emerging, and indigenous technologies. He described artificial intelligence as an essential practical tool rather than a luxury, stressing that advancing smart industry is among Iran's top priorities.
Aref also called for the preparation of a two-year strategic document for industrial development and urged the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to present practical solutions to address challenges facing the country's automotive sector.
