Iran (IMNA) - Iran's Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a new wave of U.S. strikes on Iranian territory, saying Washington has violated nearly every provision of the ceasefire agreement signed 25 days ago.
In a statement issued early Monday, the ministry described the attacks as "brutal" and a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2(4), warning that the strikes pose a serious threat to international peace and security. It said the United States had "openly violated almost all parts" of the memorandum signed to end the war.
The ministry accused Washington of committing "the most heinous war crimes" by targeting Iran's transport infrastructure, fishing boats, cargo vessels and civilian buildings. It also alleged that the United States had openly interfered in Iran's implementation of transit arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to renewed insecurity and disruption to international commercial shipping.
The statement warned neighboring countries on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf that the U.S. military was using their territory and facilities to prepare attacks against Iran, claiming this had effectively turned those countries into a platform for what it described as an illegal war against the Iranian nation.
It further cautioned that any participation or cooperation with what it called the aggressor parties would have consequences, adding that the source of attacks against Iran would be considered a legitimate target for defensive operations by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Foreign Ministry also rejected as "pure lies and born of desperation" U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks regarding the outcome of Saturday's talks in Muscat. According to the statement, the negotiations focused on arrangements for managing the Strait of Hormuz and transit routes, while alleging that the United States prevented an agreement through overt and covert pressure on Oman.
The ministry also criticized what it described as the "non-constructive approach" of the UN Secretariat toward the alleged U.S. violations and called on the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council to hold those responsible accountable and prosecute those who ordered and carried out crimes against the Iranian people.
