Millions Expected to Join Multi-Day Funeral Processions for Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

Millions of people are expected to participate in the funeral processions for Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as ceremonies are set to take place over several days in cities across Iran, according to the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at the third coordination meeting for the funeral arrangements, Yaqoub Soleimani, the foundation’s deputy for cultural and educational affairs, said the ceremonies would be held with full grandeur and described the anticipated massive turnout as a historic national event.

He said the participation of millions of mourners would ensure the occasion is remembered as a historic event and a national epic in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Soleimani added that all available capacities and resources have been mobilized to serve participants, with hussainiyas, cultural centers, and civic institutions across provinces and cities prepared to provide services to mourners.

Farideh Olad Qobad, the foundation’s deputy for cooperative and social affairs, said foundation counselors and social workers will be present throughout the ceremonies to assist attendees.

She also announced that a covenant document outlining the lofty ideals of Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei is being prepared in both English and Arabic to help explain the significance and various dimensions of the historic event to international audiences.

According to the announced schedule, the farewell ceremony for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, at Imam Khomeini Musalla in Tehran.

The funeral procession in Tehran is scheduled for Monday, July 6, followed by a procession in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7. The final procession will take place in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday, July 9, where Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest at the sacred shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on Saturday, February 28, during a deliberate attack carried out by the United States and the Israeli regime.
