Qatar, U.S. Discuss Iran Nuclear Deal and Lebanon Ceasefire

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, met senior U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Tuesday to discuss the Iran-U.S. diplomatic process and the fragile ceasefire in Lebanon.

Iran (IMNA) - According to a statement issued by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks focused on the latest regional developments, including the Lebanon ceasefire, as well as ongoing diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to mediation, stressing Doha's continued efforts to help achieve a comprehensive solution that would enhance regional security and stability.

The U.S. envoys expressed appreciation for Qatar's role, alongside Pakistan, in facilitating negotiations with Iran, and reiterated Washington's commitment to pursuing diplomacy and supporting efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement, the statement said.

The meeting took place amid renewed pressure on the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. The diplomatic framework has faced repeated challenges following retaliatory strikes by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on U.S. military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain on Sunday, in response to American attacks on Iranian coastal positions. Qatar has continued to support the diplomatic process alongside Pakistan, the lead mediator.
