Iran (IMNA) - In a statement, the SNSC secretariat said the Islamic Republic had concluded a period of difficult and intensive negotiations under the guidance of its martyred Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the directives of the current Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the steadfast support of the Iranian people, and the efforts of the country’s armed forces.
“Based on the approval of the Supreme National Security Council, the text of the memorandum of understanding regarding the end-of-war negotiations (Islamabad talks) between Iran and the United States was finalized on the evening of June 15,” the statement said.
According to the agreement, military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will end immediately and permanently. The statement also said the US naval blockade against Iran will be terminated immediately and completely.
The SNSC secretariat announced that the memorandum will be officially signed on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
The statement added that negotiations toward a final agreement will be postponed until after the other side has fulfilled its commitments under the memorandum.
The council also expressed appreciation to Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts during the negotiations.
The announcement follows earlier confirmations by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding progress in the talks.
US President Donald Trump also welcomed the development on his Truth Social platform and authorized the lifting of the blockade, according to the statement.
