Iran (IMNA) - In a post published on his X account on Saturday, Velayati reacted to what he described as Western media acknowledgment that the United States requires an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“The long-standing and historical fear of Western theorists that Iran is gaining power has become a reality, and a new geometry has been formed,” he stated.
Referring to reports by Reuters and The Guardian, Velayati said the admission that former US President Donald Trump needs a temporary agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz demonstrates “the failure of the Iranian threat doctrine and the victory of the authority of the resistance.”
He added that a greater strategic mistake is made by those who are satisfied with what he called “the mirage of compromise” in the region.
The advisor to the Leader further emphasized that the new regional power architecture will not be shaped through the weakening of what he described as the “heroic resistance.”
Velayati also warned that diplomatic optimism carries a heavy cost, arguing that lasting peace is achieved through a balance of power rather than through commitments that lack practical support.
