Iran (IMNA)– In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ghalibaf, also the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, explained that while Iran entered the talks with good faith, past experiences led to a lack of trust in the opposing side. "My colleagues on the Iranian delegation raised forward-looking initiatives, but the opposing side ultimately failed to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation in this round of negotiations," he wrote.
Ghalibaf added that America has understood Iran's logic and principles, and the decision now rests with the US to earn that trust. He emphasized that Iran views diplomacy, alongside military efforts, as a means to uphold the nation's rights, and vowed continuous efforts to consolidate the achievements of Iran's "national defense."
The Speaker also expressed gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating the negotiations and extended his regards to the Pakistani people. He concluded by thanking the Iranian people for their support and commending his colleagues for their intensive 21-hour negotiations.
The Iranian negotiating team presented various initiatives during the continuous talks, but "excessive demands" from the US reportedly obstructed progress and prevented a common framework for agreement. Disagreements were said to include issues such as the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear rights.
