Iran urges UN to act against ‘blatant and shameless’ threats by Trump

– Iran’s mission to the United Nations has harshly reacted to the renewed threats issued by the US president against the country’s power plants and bridges, warning that US President Donald Trump is seeking to drag the West Asia region into an endless war.

Iran (IMNA) _ In a statement, addressed to the world body on Sunday local time, the Iranian representation at the United Nations condemned Trump for openly threatening to destroy vital infrastructure of the Islamic Republic, calling it a direct provocation to intimidate civilians and a clear intent to commit “war crimes.”

If the conscience of the United Nations were alive, it would not remain silent in the face of the blatant and shameless threats by the war-mongering American president to target non-military infrastructure, read the statement.

Warning about Trump’s dangerous plot to drag the region into an endless war, Iran’s UN mission reminded the international community and all nations about their legal obligations to prevent such heinous acts of war crimes, before it is too late.

The US president took to his social media account on Sunday, once again threatening Iran in an abusive and insulting tone, more than one month after launching a joint war of aggression with the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic.

Despite claiming victory over Iran dozens of times and illusions about the unjust war waged on the Islamic Republic, Trump keeps threatening the Iranian nation that has further exposed his lies and failure to achieve his goals. Recently, he also asserted that he would return Iran to the “Stone Age,” a rhetoric that sparked global condemnations.

The unprovoked US-Israeli war, the second of its kind since last year, was launched as Tehran was in the midst of diplomatic talks with Washington over its peaceful nuclear program. The terror attack martyred the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, senior military commanders and civilians, including hundreds of school children.

The enemy has also attacked a large number of industrial and production centers of the country, which were built by entrepreneurs and industrialists despite sanctions and economic pressure.

In response, Iran launched precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and US bases in the region, citing its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
