Iran (IMNA)– The appeal was made during a Tuesday phone call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where regional developments and the consequences of the aggression were discussed.
Araghchi stated Iran expects UNSC member states to take a decisive stand against the aggression, criticizing the Council for ignoring the actions of the US and Israel and instead blaming Iran, which he says is defending itself. He reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Wang Yi reiterated China’s condemnation of the US-Israeli aggression and violation of Iran’s sovereignty, emphasizing the need for diplomacy and respect for international law.
The aggression, launched on February 28th following a conflict last June, occurred during diplomatic talks between Tehran and Washington regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was reportedly assassinated in an Israeli airstrike. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes against Israeli and US positions, citing its right to self-defense.
