Iran (IMNA) - During a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and the consequences of the US and Israeli actions. Pezeshkian stated Iran was not the aggressor, citing unwarranted military aggression during nuclear negotiations targeting leaders, military personnel, and civilians. He asserted Iran's right to defend its territory.
Pezeshkian praised Iran-Pakistan relations and urged regional countries not to allow their territory to be used for attacks against Iran by the US and Israel. He warned that failing to prevent further aggression would escalate conflict and insecurity. He also highlighted the impact on regional security and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, while assuring measures were taken to ensure safe passage for non-aggressor vessels.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed regret over the aggression against Iran, condolences for the victims, and thanked Iran for allowing safe passage for Pakistani vessels. He called for collective regional efforts, particularly by Muslim nations, to de-escalate tensions and restore peace and stability, reiterating Pakistan’s support for Iran.
