Iran (IMNA) - Hamidreza Zafarghandi, the Minister of Health, conducted visits to three hospitals located in the southern, central, and northern parts of Tehran, extending his regards to the inpatients.
During his visit to one of the hospitals, the Minister highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict on the youngest victims. He stated, "In the enemy's attacks, one of our greatest sorrows is the harm inflicted upon children. In the initial moments of the war, the unforgettable and heartbreaking tragedy of the attack on the Shajareh-Teybeh school in Minab occurred, resulting in the martyrdom of 168 children. To date, approximately 210 children have been martyred in this war."
He further elaborated, "The number of injured individuals under the age of 18, including children and adolescents, has exceeded 1,510 across the country throughout this war. This indicates that the conflict extends beyond military engagement, inflicting substantial harm on ordinary citizens, non-combatants, children, and women."
The Minister reported damage to approximately 300 health, treatment, and emergency centers since the commencement of the imposed war. "Around 30 ambulances have also been damaged and rendered inoperable, making it impossible to overlook these atrocities," he added.
Referencing a statement by Tedros, Director-General of the World Health Organization, the Health Minister recalled, "He emphasized in a tweet that the attack on the Minab school cannot be attributed to a miscalculation; rather, it constitutes a crime against humanity, and no other definition can be applied to this act."
